Box Score BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Birmingham-Southern women's soccer won its Southern Athletic Association home opener in dramatic fashion Saturday on Goldfarb Field. Taylor Andrews (Watkinsville, Ga./Oconee County HS) drilled a long shot from the top middle of the box on a pass from Ivy Painter (Jackson, Miss./St. Andrew's Episcopal HS) in the 99th minute to lift the Panthers to a 2-1 overtime win against Hendrix College. BSC improved to 4-5 overall, 1-0 in the SAA with the win.
The goal was Andrews' third of the season and Painter's first assist. Ansley Tomlin (Franklin, Tenn./Battle Ground Academy) recorded a game and career-high nine saves to earn her third win of the year.
Ali Sadler (Brentwood, Tenn./Ravenwood HS) opened scoring on a pass from from the middle from Megan Moser (Madenville, La./St. Scholastica Catholic HS). Sadler took the pass on the left side of the box and chipped it in over the goalkeepers head, giving BSC the 1-0 lead.
Hendrix (7-3, 0-1 SAA) earned the equalizer in the 56th minute to force the overtime.
The Panthers are on the road next, traveling to AUM on Sunday, Sept. 25. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
