Box Score BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Birmingham-Southern women's volleyball team moved to 4-1 in Southern Athletic Association play Sunday afternoon in Bill Battle Coliseum with a 3-0 sweep over Rhodes College. BSC, who improved to 11-3 overall, hit .386 as a team.
The Panthers led a balanced attack on Rhodes (6-6, 2-3 SAA). Laura Van Peursem (Huntsville, Ala./The Randolph School) and Jeneva Salter (Madison, Ala./Bob Jones HS) tied for a game-high of nine kills. Van Peursem finished with a season-best .692 hitting percentage after recording zero errors.
Rachel Lee (Montgomery, Ala./The Montgomery Academy) earned a game-high 18 assists.
BSC dominated defensively on the day. As a team, they earned 13 blocks and held Rhodes to a –0.079 hitting percentage. Caroline Johnson (Lucas, Texas/Lovejoy HS) finished with a game-high 10 digs.
The Panthers return to action this coming Saturday, Oct. 1. They host SAA rival Berry at 2 p.m.
