Box Score BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Birmingham-Southern College football team battled Saturday afternoon against Southern Athletic Association rival No. 20 Berry College in Krulak Stadium. The Panthers (2-6, 1-5 SAA) would fall 35-18 in a physical game.
Trevor Oakes (Somerville, Ala./Hartselle HS) threw for a game-high 298 yards and two touchdowns in the loss. Kerrigan Pennington (Wagerville, Ala./Washington County HS) had a big day, finishing with a game-high 115 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Defensively, Hunter McEntire (Newton, Ala./Houston Academy) led with a game-high 12 tackles, 11 solo.
Berry scored first, but the Panthers responded with a touchdown of their own. Kountz punched the ball across the line from six yards out to pull the Panthers within one, 7-6.
The Vikings scored three more times before BSC countered. Oakes found Pennington across the middle for a 46 yard touchdown with 6:41 left in the third.
Halfway through the fourth quarter, Dylan Main (Navarre, Fla./Navarre HS) intercepted Tate Adcock in the end zone and returned it 12 yards to setup an aggressive Panther drive that ended in a five yard touchdown pass from Oakes to Buddy Dowd (Dothan, Ala./Northview HS) with 6:51 to play.
BSC closes out its home season next Saturday against Millsaps College. The Panthers kickoff at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 4. It will be senior day on the Hilltop as BSC recognizes the Panthers who have been dedicated to the program.
