Volleyball Battles to Season Opening Win

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Birmingham-Southern women's volleyball team outpaced Washington and Lee University Friday night in Bill Battle Coliseum to earn its 3-0 season opening win. 

 

The Panthers (1-0) averaged double-digit kills per set as a team off the hands of Rylee Segrest (Anniston, Ala./The Donoho School) who finished with 30 assists.  Julia Denby (Gulf Breeze, Fla./Gulf Breeze HS) earned a match-high 10 kills on the night, hitting.381.  And Caroline Johnson (Lucas, Texas/Lovejoy HS) and Milea Ray (Alabaster, Ala./Pensacola State) tag teamed on the back line.  Johnson finished with a match-high 21 digs, and Ray picked up 13 to go along with her nine kills.

 

BSC continues competition in the 2017 McAttack Bash tomorrow.  They will face Maryville College (Tenn.) at noon and Covenant College at 6 p.m.
