Box Score MOUNT BERRY, Ga. – The Birmingham-Southern men's basketball team earned its fifth straight win on Friday night, going on the road to defeat Southern Athletic Association foe Berry 76-67.
Guard Cole DenBesten (Orlando, Fla./Berry College) led the Panthers to win, dropping 19 points and adding four rebounds and two assists. Junior Matty Rudak (Augustow, Poland/Millbrook School) had 16 points and nine rebounds while freshman Ben Spence (Memphis, Tenn./Christian Brothers HS) came off the bench to score 14 points.
A DenBesten three-point jumper at the 15:43 mark gave BSC its first lead of the game, 8-5, and from that point forward it was all Panthers. Another DenBesten three with just under 16 minutes to play in the second half gave Birmingham-Southern a 17-point lead, its largest margin of the game.
The Vikings attempted to make a comeback late in the game, getting within seven points with under four minutes to go, but the Panthers held them off to secure the final nine-point win.
Birmingham-Southern continues its road trip on Sunday, Jan. 28, traveling to Oglethorpe for a 3 p.m. ET tipoff against the Stormy Petrels.
