Box Score DANVILLE, Ky. – The Birmingham-Southern men's basketball team fell to Berry College 95-76 in the semifinals of the Southern Athletic Association Championship Tournament on Saturday afternoon.
The Panthers and Vikings battled back and forth for most of the first half until the No. 8 seed Berry went on a 13-5 run before the break to go up 42-35.
Berry never surrendered its lead in the second half, jumping out to a 17-point lead with under 10 minutes to go and finishing with a 19-point lead at the final buzzer.
Ben Spence (Memphis, Tenn./Christian Brothers HS) led the Panthers on offense with a season-high 18 points. Senior Harrison Deneka (Memphis, Tenn./Christian Brothers HS) scored 15 points and grabbed eight rebounds in his collegiate finale.
With the loss, Birmingham-Southern was eliminated from the SAA Tournament and ended the year with an 11-16 overall record.
