SAA Tournament: Women Fall 5-3 to Centre in Quarterfinals

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Birmingham-Southern women's tennis team was upset by Centre College 5-3 in the quarterfinals of the Southern Athletic Association Friday.

Carlee Petro (Birmingham, Ala./Mountain Brook HS) picked up two wins on the day. She and partner Alyssa Yager (Gardendale, Ala./Gardendale HS) won 8-4 at No. 1 doubles. Petro went on to win No. 1 singles 6-1, 6-0. Ashton Henderson (Birmingham, Ala./Laurel Springs HS) earned the Panthers other win at No. 6 singles. She defeated her opponent 6-1, 6-3.

BSC finished its season 12-6 overall, ranked No. 14 in the region. Petro was ranked No. 12 regionally in singles play.
