BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Birmingham-Southern women's tennis team moved to 9-5 overall and 2-2 against Southern Athletic Association teams with its 6-3 win over rival Oglethorpe University Saturday morning.
Carlee Petro (Birmingham, Ala./Mountain Brook HS) and Virginia Hammond (Chattanooga, Tenn./Girls Preparatory School) picked up two wins each. Petro battled to a 9-7 win at No. 1 doubles with partner Alyssa Yager (Gardendale, Ala./Gardendale HS) before going on to win 6-4, 6-2 in No. 1 singles. At the No. 2 position, Hammond and Isabella Wisener (Horton, Ala./Douglas HS) won doubles 8-6. Hammond then won her No. 4 singles match 6-4, 6-1.
BSC remains at home for another conference matchup. They take on Berry College at 9 a.m.
