BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Birmingham-Southern women's tennis team earned an 8-1 win over Berry College at home Sunday to improve to 3-2 in Southern Athletic Association play. BSC (10-5) swept doubles play to open as four Panthers picked up two wins on the day.
Carlee Petro (Birmingham, Ala./Mountain Brook HS) gave up just three games out of No. 1 positions. She and partner Alyssa Yager (Gardendale, Ala./Gardendale HS) won 8-1 in doubles and she went on to win 6-2, 6-0 in singles. Yager also won her No. 2 singles match. She dropped the first set (2-6) and battled back to win the next two (6-2, 6-2).
Emily Enoch (Nashville, Tenn./Christ Presbyterian Academy) had a good day on the court. She and partner Lexie Dillard (Jasper, Ala./Walker HS) won No. 3 doubles 8-5. She then took her No. 4 singles match 6-0, 6-4. Dillard also went on to win at No. 5 singles 6-2, 6-3.
BSC remains at home for another conference matchup. They take on Berry College at 9 a.m.
