ATLANTA – The Birmingham-Southern men's and women's swimming and diving teams competed at Emory University on Saturday.
In the dual meet, the Panthers lost 583.3-489.9 on the men's side and 579-464.4 on the women's side.
BSC had notable performances in numerous events. On the men's side, Joe Swing (Huntsville, Ala./Huntsville HS) finished second and Chase Bolding (Panama City Beach, Fla./Wyoming) finished third in the 1000 freestyle and 100 butterfly, respectively. Bolding also had a second-place finish in the 200 breaststroke.
Diver James Hughes (Huntsville, Ala./Grissom HS) finished in second place in both the 1-meter and 3-meter events.
On the women's side, Mary Miller Goldberg (Memphis, Tenn./St. George's Independent School) took second in the 1000 freestyle and a fourth-place finish in the 200 butterfly.
Freshman diver Mallory Wilson (Mobile, Ala./W.P. Davidson HS) won both the 1-meter and 3-meter events, setting new program records in each. Wilson took first place in the 1-meter dive with a score of 248.78 and won the 3-meter dive with a score of 206.40. She broke the BSC 1-meter record by more than 40 points and the 3-meter record by more than 20 points.
Birmingham-Southern's next meet will be at SCAD on Saturday, Nov. 2.
