COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Four Birmingham-Southern swim student-athletes were named All-Americans by the Collegiate Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA), the organization announced on Tuesday.
Due to the cancellation of the 2020 NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championships because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the CSCAA adjusted its selection criteria in order to honor worthy student-athletes.
"Despite the cancellation of the NCAA Championships, Coach (Toby) Wilcox did a remarkable job this season," explained Greg Earhart, Executive Director of the CSCAA. "These four student-athletes had the rug pulled out from them this season, so we are excited to recognize them."
Birmingham-Southern four CSCAA All-America selections are senior Becca Erwin (Duluth, Ga./Duluth HS), sophomore Anna Jordan Luth (Pensacola, Fla./Booker T. Washington HS), junior Mary Miller Goldberg (Memphis, Tenn./St. George's Independent School), and sophomore Mary Katherine Stewart (Daphne, Ala./Daphne HS).
Before the cancellation of the NCAA Division III Championships, Erwin was slated to compete in the 500-, 200-, and 100-yard freestyles, while all four were to swim in the 800-yard freestyle relays.
Erwin is a 10x CSCAA All-American. This is the second All-America nod for Luth and Stewart and first for Goldberg.
