BIRMINGHAM, ,Ala. – Birmingham-Southern women's tennis fought tough, but fell to NAIA opponent Martin Methodist 6-3 Friday afternoon at the Ann Dielen Tennis Complex.
Ashton Henderson (Birmingham, Ala./Laurel Springs HS) and Lexie Dillard (Jasper, Ala./Walker HS) went undefeated on the day. The pair won 8-5 at the No. 3 doubles position. Dillard went on to defeat her No. 6 singles opponent. After dropping the first set in a tiebreak 6-7 (2), she won the next two 6-5 and 10-2. Henderson won at No. 5 singles by default after her opponent was injured.
BSC (6-4) hits the road next. The Panthers take on Oglethorpe University in their Southern Athletic Association opener. Match time is set for 10 a.m. ET on Saturday, March 30.
