Box Score ROME, Ga. – The Birmingham-Southern women's volleyball team came out on fire against No. 5 Berry College Friday night on the road. BSC (7-3) upset the Vikings to earn their first Southern Athletic Association win of the season. It was also the Panthers first win over a ranked opponent this year.
Middle hitters Julia Denby (Gulf Breeze, Fla./Gulf Breeze HS) and Rebecca Erwin (Duluth, Ga./Duluth HS) led the team offensively. Denby earned a match-high 17 kills while hitting .483. Erwin finished with 14 kills, respectively. The pair had a hand in each of the teams blocks.
Milea Ray (Alabaster, Ala./Pensacola State) and Alyssa Coats (Nolensville, Tenn./Nolensville HS) earned double-doubles. Ray finished with 12 kills, 11 digs, and Coats earned 11 kills, 13 digs.
Ansleigh Dailey (Daphne, Ala./Bayside Academy) and Reilly Vought (Spanish Fort, Ala./Spanish Fort HS) combined for 52 assists. And Caroline Johnson (Lucas, Texas/Lovejoy HS) picked up a match-high 32 digs.
The Panthers finish their road trip at Oglethorpe University on tomorrow. Match time is set for 11 a.m. CT.
