Box Score BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Birmingham-Southern volleyball team fended off four match points in the fifth set before finally falling to Hendrix College 3-2 in a battle of the undefeated Southern Athletic Association teams. BSC (10-4) moved to 4-1 against SAA opponents with the loss.
Milea Ray (Alabaster, Ala./Pensacola State) netted another double-double. She finished with a match-high 13 kills and 20 digs. Julia Denby (Gulf Breeze, Fla./Gulf Breeze HS) also earned a match-high 13 kills. Rebecca Erwin (Duluth, Ga./Duluth HS), who rounded out the hitters in double-figures with 10 of her own, dominated at the net with eight blocks.
Ansleigh Dailey (Daphne, Ala./Bayside Academy) finished with a match-high 34 assists. And Caroline Johnson (Lucas, Texas/Lovejoy HS) picked up a match-high 28 digs.
The Panthers hit the highway next on a three-game road trip. They travel to Danville, Ky. to face Centre College on Saturday, Oct. 5 and then on to Sewanee, Tenn. to take on the University of the South on Sunday, Oct. 6. BSC rounds out its road trip at No. 1 Emory on Tuesday, Oct. 10 before coming home to face No. 7 Berry College on Saturday, Oct. 12.
