Box Score MOUNT BERRY, Ga. – The Birmingham-Southern men's basketball team picked up its first Southern Athletic Association win of the season on Friday night, knocking off Berry on the road 68-62.
After an early back-and-forth fight with the Vikings in the first half, the Panthers jumped out to a 10-point lead with under a minute to go in the half and went into the break with an eight-point, 32-24 lead.
After an opening 20 minutes where BSC shot 46 percent from the field, the Panthers improved on that in the second half, shooting 50 percent from the field and scoring another 36 points to beat the Vikings by six points.
Junior forward Christian Stewart (Irondale, Ala./Shades Valley HS) led Birmingham-Southern in scoring in the game, dropping 19 points and grabbing six rebounds. Senior guard Calvin Bak (Muscle Shoals, Ala./Muscle Shoals HS) and Conor O'Sullivan (Tower Cork, Ireland/Cork Institute of Technology) also scored in the double digits, scoring 15 and 14 points, respectively.
Bruce Bright (Birmingham, Ala./John Carroll HS) led the team with eight rebounds.
With the win, BSC improves to 5-12 overall and 1-5 in the conference. The Panthers will stay on the road and travel to Oglethorpe for their next game on Sunday, Jan. 19.
