Box Score CONWAY, Ark. – The Birmingham-Southern men's basketball team was eliminated by Hendrix 75-68 in the quarterfinals of the Southern Athletic Association Tournament on Sunday.
The Panthers held a lead over the Warriors for the majority of the first half, trading the advantage with Hendrix back-and-forth up until the 4:53 mark. From there, the home side took the lead and never gave it up.
Going down by as much as 18 points in the second half, BSC was able to pull back within three points with less than two minutes left. However, the Panthers could not complete the comeback and in the end lost by seven.
Senior guard Calvin Bak (Muscle Shoals, Ala./Muscle Shoals HS) finished the game with a team-high 18 points, which included four three-pointers. Bak, the lone senior on the squad, ends his career at Birmingham-Southern with 957 points.
Guard Paul Fitzgerald (Fort Valley, Ga./Lamar CC) also finished with double-digit points in the loss, dropping 14 points. Junior forward Christian Stewart (Irondale, Ala./Shades Valley HS) recorded eight points and a team-high 10 rebounds.
With the loss, Birmingham-Southern is eliminated from the SAA Men's Basketball Tournament. The Panthers end their 2019-20 campaign with a final record of 8-18 overall and 4-10 in the conference.
