FOOTBALL WEEKEND PREVIEW VS. CENTRE

Birmingham-Southern Football is back on the road this Saturday, Oct. 16 as they travel to Danville, Ky to take on Centre College. Kickoff is set for 12 p.m. on at Farris Stadium. Although the matchup has not been kind to BSC, holding a 3-11 record the Panthers have got the best of the Colonels winning the past two matchups.

A look at the BSC Panthers
The Panthers come into this game climbing into the national rankings at No. 24. This is the first time the Panthers have been ranked since the 2012 season. BSC is currently 5-0 overall and 2-0 in conference play.
 
The Panther run offense continues to thrive with four running backs all having over 200 yards rushing on the year, Robert Shufford leads the pack with 100 carriers for 745 yards and 13 touchdowns. In recent weeks the passing game has been just as explosive as the running game.
 
Over the past two weeks Trey Patterson is 23-for-29 with 405 yards, five touchdowns and no interceptions. Branden Rew and Gentry Neese continue to hall in passes with the two combining for four touchdowns the past two weeks.
 
The defense continues to dominate and have held opponents under single digit points for the fourth straight game. Court Coley and Connor West lead the way each recording 28 tackles. Coley leads the team with six tackles for loss. Cameron DeArman is also a threat leading the team in sacks with four.
 
A look at the Centre Colonels
Centre will come into this game off a 27-7 loss to Trinity University (Texas). The loss moves the Colonels to 4-1 overall and 1-1 in the SAA. Centre currently leads the all-time matchup against BSC 11-3.
 
The Colonels offense is powered by junior quarterback Trentin Dupper. Dupper has thrown for 981 yards, 11 touchdowns, and just one interception in five games. Dupper is also the Colonels leading rusher with 400 yards and four touchdowns. He is the key player that makes the offense go.
 
The Colonel defense is holding opponents to 22 points a game. Armon Wells and Oliver Hunter are the leaders on the defense with Wells leading the team in tackles with 47 and Hunter leading the team in sacks and is second on the team in tackles for loss with four.
 
Other BSC Panther notes
> The last time the Panthers started 5-0 was 2012.
> BSC currently ranks 12th in total defense in Division III.
> Robert Shufford is tied for second in total touchdowns in Division III.  
 
Up next
Following the game, the Panthers will return home to host Rhodes for their Homecoming game on Saturday, Oct. 23. Kickoff is scheduled for 4:30 p.m.
