ATLANTA, Ga. - Bruce Maxwell of the Birmingham-Southern Panthers enjoyed one of the greatest seasons in Division III baseball history in 2012.

Maxwell hit .471 over the course of the season with 72 hits, 56 runs, 25 doubles and 15 home runs. He drove in 48 runs and was named unanimous Division III Player of the Year, receiving the award from both D3baseball.com and the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA).
Later that summer, the Oakland Athletics drafted him with the second pick in the draft's second round, the 62nd pick overall. That served as the highest

draft position for a Division III baseball player since 2003.
