INDIANAPOLIS - Birmingham-Southern has received the No. 5 seed in the High Point, North Carolina Regional, as one of 48 teams in the 2021 NCAA Division III Baseball Tournament, May 27-31. The six-team, double-elimination tournament will be hosted by Greensboro College and High Point Downtown Stadium Foundation.

The Panthers (25-14) will meet No. 2 seed Washington & Jefferson (36-1) in the first game, May 27 at 2:30 p.m. ET.  Other teams in the High Point Regional are No. 1 Salisbury (25-4), No. 2 Washington & Jefferson (36-1), No. 3 LaGrange (24-8), No. 4 Lynchburg (34-13), No. 6 Marymount (Va.) (20-5).

BSC earned an automatic bid to the NCAA D3 Tournament by winning the Southern Athletic Association (SAA) Tournament on April 24 and will look to return to the NCAA Division III Championship Series, which it finished runner-up in 2019. The Panthers are receiving votes in the latest D3Baseball.com Top 25, coming in at No. 27 in the nation.

This is Birmingham-Southern's seventh bid to the NCAA Division III Baseball Tournament since 2012.

In 2019, BSC went 7-3 in NCAA postseason advancing to the D3 Championship Series against Chapman. The Panthers lost its region opener at home to LaGrange College before winning seven-straight to reach the championship series. 

The 2021 tournament is 75% of its normal size with six teams competing at eight regional sites instead of the usual region and super region structure.

The other Regional sites are Auburn, N.Y., Marietta, Ohio, Decatur, Ill., Hartford, Conn., Collegeville, Minn., Saint Paul, Minn. and Whitewater, Wisc.

Winners of the eight regions will advance to the NCAA DIII World Series, June 4-9, at Perfect Game Field at Veterans Memorial Stadium in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The World Series will have two four-team double-elimination pools with the winners advancing to the best-of-three championship series.
