Box Score MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The Birmingham-Southern volleyball team finished off their weekend with a sweep over Rhodes College. Coming off of their four set win the day before, the Panthers were able to keep their fight going with a quick win over the Lynx.
Alyssa Coats led the team with 15 kills and 9 digs.
The Panthers went up 5-1 to start off set one, but the Lynx closed up that lead to tie it 5-5. BSC kept things going and pushed to a large 17-9 lead. Rhodes got a few more points of their own, but Birmingham-Southern took the next six out of seven points to earn set point.

Alyssa Coats and
Gigi Fields all had kills that contributed to the point run.
Leah Nielsen ended set one with a kill to take it 25-15 for the Panthers.
Tied at 5-5 in set two, the Panthers took three straight points to take the lead at 8-5. BSC went on to take the next seven out of eight points with kills from
Kennedy Dickens and
Gigi Fields, as well as a service ace from
Ainsley Schultz. Birmingham-Southern held their lead at 16-9 and continued to go on a four point run to extend it 20-9. Rhodes tried to fight back, trading points back and forth, but it was not enough and the Panthers took it 25-12.
Set three started off much differently for the Panthers, as they fell behind early at 8-2. The Lynx kept their lead at 12-6, but a kill from
Alyssa Coats brought the momentum back for the Panthers. Two kills each for both
Emily Buhl and
Rominey Willner tied the set at 13-13. The Lynx went back up 18-14 but BSC was not done fighting and were able to tie it up once again at 19-19. Kills from
Alyssa Coats and
Ainsley Schultz put the set at 21-21, but the Lynx quickly took the lead back at 23-21. Birmingham-Southern went on to take the four straight points to end the set 25-23 with a 3-0 match victory.
