NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The Birmingham-Southern men's basketball team defeated Division II opponent Trevecca Nazarene 71-64, picking up their eighth victory of the season.
Three Panthers scored in double-figures to help BSC pick up a win over a Division II opponent.
Josh Childers again scored in double-figures, this time scoring a season-high 24 points, besting his previous high of 19.
Bryson Bishop scored in double-figures for the second straight game. Bishop put up 15 points, grabbed four boards and dished out one assist in the win.
Brandan Garrido recorded double-digit points for the first time this season, scoring 10 off the bench for the Panthers. The 10-points was a season-high for Garrido.
The Panthers jumped out to a quick 6-0 lead after hitting two of their first three shots and going one for two at the charity stripe.
Bryson Bishop came out hot hitting two three-point shots in the first three minutes. The Trojans fought back and got within four just before the under-12 media timeout. For the next couple of minutes neither team would make a basket. The Trojans broke the scoreless streak by going on a 7-0 run and taking their first lead of the game. The remainder of the half saw the teams trade leads before ending the first 20 minutes in a tie. The Panthers and Trojans headed to the locker room tied 29-29.
The teams came out of halftime continuing to trade baskets. BSC then exploded for a 10-0 run to take a nine point lead, from there they never looked back. The Trojans would get within one a couple times, but it was BSC shooting that kept them up and won the game. BSC shot just under 52-percent from the floor in the seoncd half and went on to win 71-64.
