DOWN THE STRETCH

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The BSC men's and women's track and field team competed at the Bulldog Open hosted by Samford at the Birmingham Crossplex and showed well against some elite competition. The highlight of the day was Kamryn Bendolph breaking her own school record (1:00.59) in the 400 meter dash.

With Samford hosting a lot of the competion was Division I, but that did not stand in the way of the Panthers. Many athletes, although didn't place high beat the majority of the Division III competitors. The men's 4x400 meter relay placed sixth in the event beating all other DIII opponents. 

Three Panthers placed inside the top half of the field in the men's 400 meter dash. Reece Weaver lead with a time of 50.54. Following him was William Wideman and Neandra Howard. On the women's side Kamryn Bendolph broke her own school record in the event. Her original mark was 1:00.59, but came out and ran a 59.65 to set a new mark. 

Griffin Riner ran a great 800 meter race and ranked in the top 30 of the event out of 66 participants. 

Field
BSC continued to show well in the men's long jump having two student-athletes rank in the top 15. Jordan Jones finished 13th with a jump of 6.66 meters, while William Wideman finished 15th with a jump of 6.62 meters. 

Andrew Smith showed well in the men's weight throw, being the highest placed Panther. Smith recorded a throw of 10.78 meters. 

The Panthers have set numerous PR's and school records as they come down the stretch and finish their indoor season.

The Panthers will take part in a Final Indoor Qualifier. As of now the meet is TBD.
