WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Birmingham-Southern men's and women's track team traveled to the JDL Fast Track in Winston-Salem, N.C. where they competed against some of the top competition across all NCAA Divisions. They will return to the JDL Fast Track at the conclusion of the Indoor Track and Field season to compete in the NCAA Division III Indoor Championships.
Track
William Wideman kept his momentum from last week and placed ninth in the men's 400-meter dash with a time of 51.52. In the 600 meter race,
Griffin Riner and
Beck Wilkes each placed top 10, placing 8th and 9th respectively. Riner and Wilkes placed higher than some Division I runners.
The Panthers had three student-athletes record personal records at the meet.
Andrew Warhurst ran a 7.50 in the 60-meter dash to record his personal record. On the women's side
Kamryn Bendolph and
Jailah Loving both recorded PR's. Bendolph ran a 1:00.69 in the 400m to beat her indoor record. Loving beat her indoor record in the 200m race with a time of 26.78.
Field
BSC had two men place in the top 10 of the long jump event. A week after setting the school recording long jump,
Jordan Jones placed seventh in this meet.
William Wideman finished just behind Jones in 10th with a jump of 6.42.Â
A lot of PR's were achieved at the event.
Alicia Willis started it off after recording an 8.92 meter throw in the weight throw.
Andrew Smith beat his PR from a week ago, beating his throw by almost 1.50 meters.
Jacob Kennedy was just shy of breaking his PR in the weight throw, missing by 9 centimeters. The final Panther to record a PR was
Tre Butler who beat his original PR by over a half meter in the weight throw.Â
The Panthers got a good feel for what it will be like to compete at a high level at the track they will return too for the Indoor Championships.Â
