BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - For the third consecutive year
Jordan Jones will compete at the Division III Indoor Championships competing in the men's triple jump. This is also the 11th consecutive year that the Birmingham-Southern track and field teams have sent at least one person to the Division III Indoor National Championships.
Jordan Jones made appearances in the 2020 Indoor Championship, that was later canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. He returned in 2021 and won the triple jump in the Division III Elite Indoor Championship at Wartburg College. He now is set to compete in the 2022 Indoor Championship taking place in Winston-Salem, N.C. at the JDL Fast Track.
Jones broke the school record for long jump and triple jump this season. He broke the triple jump record last week at the South Region Qualifier at Shenandoah University where he jumped a length of 14.63 meters.
Quotes from Coach Cox
"We never take this opportunities to compete and represent BSC and our program at the national level. Since our first qualifiers back in 2012 when we as an entire athletics department became eligible for post-season competition, our focus as a program has been to put the work in daily and let the results speak for themselves. There are many teams that have never made a national appearance, so qualifying every year has truly been a blessing we continue to strive for daily."
"I continue to be proud of the leadership and focus that Jordan displays. This young man has overcome more in the last 4 years than anyone else I've had the blessing of coaching, and to see him make it back to Winston-Salem, N.C. is something you only read about.
