PENSACOLA, Fla. - The Birmingham-Southern baseball team picked up another win in Pensacola as they run ruled the Grinnell Pioneers 13-0 in seven innings.
The Panthers were designated the visiting team in the neutral site matchup and kicked the game off with a five run first inning.Three hits and four walks led to BSC taking a commanding 5-0 lead early. The Panthers added a run in the second to extend their lead on an
Ian Hancock home run.
Josh Leerssen threw a scoreless five innings allowing just two hits and striking out a seven hitters, en route to picking up his second win of the season.
BSC busted the game open in the fourth plating five more runs on four hits.
Noah Best and
Wes Diamantis drove in three of the five runs. Best hit a solo homerun and Diamantis hit a two-run home run in the inning.
The Panthers scratched across one run in each of the next two innings before
Ian Burnstine came in to face the minimum in the seventh inning and help the Panthers to a 13-0 victory. Burnstine relieved
Luke Jones who threw a flawless sixth inning.
