ROME, Ga. - The Birmingham-Southern men's track and field team wrapped up the regular season with a strong performance at the Berry Field Day Invitational.
Orion Brogdon placed second in the men's javelin throw with a throw of 50.57 meters earnining eight points for the Panthers. Birmingham-Southern dominated the triple jump with two student-athletes finishing first and second. Mauric Sutherland finished first, while
Jordan Jones finished second.
On Saturday, BSC carried over the momentum and placed highly in many events.
Jordan McClendon and Neandra Howard each recorded a top 10 finish in the men's long jump.
Jacob Kennedy gathered four points for the Panthers after a fifth place finish in the men's shot put.
In the track events
Beck Wilkes and
Gavin Thornhill garnered a top five finish in the men's 3000 meter steeplechase. In the men's 400-meter dash BSC had three student-athletes place in the top 15 or higher.
Reece Weaver finished third with a time of 48.82, which is the 19th fastest time in the nation for Division III. In the men's 800-meter run
Griffin Riner recorded a personal record in his 12th place finish with a time of 1:58.75.
