BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Birmingham-Southern men's track and field team opened 2023 with a strong showing at the Emory CrossPlex Showdown. A strong showing led to a couple top of the leader board performances.
The Panthers earned three top six finishes in the field events.
Maurice Sutherland earned second in the triple jump and sixth in the long jump, while
Bruce Davis Jr. earned a fifth place finish in the shot put.
Andrew Warhurst posted a seventh place finish in the 60-meter hurdles.
Panthers Placing in Events
- Keller Bishop posted a 15th place finish in the men's 5000 meter run with a time of 17:53.32.
- Jack Rodgers finished 27th in the 3000 meter run with a time of 10:35.61
- Andrew Warhurst finished seventh in the 60-meter hurdle finals.
- In the 400 meter event Dom Zana recorded a 15th place finish with a time of 52.52.
- Noah Arrington earned a top-15 finish in the 1 mile event.
- Hunter Siddle and Pyunn Ntwari finished 17th and 24th respectively in the 800 meter run.
- BSC placed two student-athletes in the top 20 of the 200 meter run.
- The Birmingham-Souther "A" 400m distance medlay relay took fourth in the event with a time of 11:27.54.
- Bruce Davis Jr., and Jaiden Maddox each placed in the top 20 of the men's weight throw.
- Maurice Sutherland placed sixth in the long jump and second in the triple jump in his two field events he competed in.
- In his first event of the year Bruce Davis Jr. placed fifth in the shot put.
