BSC COMPETES AT SAMFORD OPEN

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Birmingham-Southern track and field team earned a couple top 20 finishes at the Samford Open. 

Jailah Loving, Andrew Warhurst, Amelia Dowling, and Maurice Sutherland each earned a top 20 spot in their respective events. In total the four athletes earned seven top 20 finishes.

Birmingham-Southern Top Finishes

  • Jailah Loving set the tone early earning a qualifying time for the 60 meter dash where she finished 13th. 
  • Andrew Warhurst followed that up with a qualifying time for the 60 meter hurdles. He would finish 18th in the event.
  • Amelia Dowling built on that momentum earning a 20th place finish in the women's 60 meter hurdles. 
  • Kya Gardner earned top spot for the Panthers in the women's 200 meter and 400 meter placing 33rd and 29th respectively. 
  • Maurice Sutherland showed well in the long jump and triple jump earning 16th and 6th place. Maurice was the only Panther to rank inside the top 10 for the day.
  • Jaiden Maddox threw well in the shot put and weight throw ranking inside the top 25 for the Panthers.
