BIRMINGHAM, AL. - The Panthers men's basketball team had their three-game winning streak come to an end on Tuesday night by the #19 Emory Eagles.
The Eagles got off to a terrific start shooting the ball making 10 of their first 15 field goals to take a 24-9 lead after seven minutes of play. Over the next five and a half minutes, junior guard
Brandan Copeland provided a spark off the bench for the Panthers with six points on three buckets to prevent the Eagles from extending their lead. Despite cooling off slightly, Emory still continued to move the ball around the perimeter and inside the paint to big men Cale Martens and Logan Shanahan to hit the 50 mark before halftime. Cale Martens also led the Eagles with four threes at the break to take a 52-35 lead into halftime.
To start the second half, Emory scored the first eight points before
Samuel Spence hit a three to end the run of 2:14. The Eagles proved to be too much on offense and took their largest lead of the night at 88-50 with 8:49 to go. BSC did not let the lead stretch any further and saw some promising displays from freshman
Eric Robinson,
Kendarius Irvin, and
Kalib Thomas late in the game with eight, four, and four points respectively. However, the Eagles finished the game strong and went on to win 99-70 on the night.
