VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - The Birmingham-Southern men's and women's track and field team combined for seven top eight finishes in their meet in Virginia at the Richard Drake Invitational.

Birmingham-Southern top finishes

• Maurice Sutherland earned a fourth place finish in the triple jump and followed that up with a sixth place finish in the long jump.
• Jaiden Maddox placed 14th in the weight throw and seventh in the shot put.
• Bruce Davis finished 20th in the weight throw before earning a top 10 finish in the shot put. 
• Jailah Loving finished 2nd in the 60-meter hurdle event with a time of 9.12. She also finished third in the 60-meter dash.
• Sydney Smith rounds out the top eight finishers with a seventh place finish in the 400-meter with a time of 1:04.19
