BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Birmingham-Southern announces six new members have been selected to the BSC Sports Hall of Fame. The the Hall of Fame Class of 2023 Induction Ceremony will take place on Friday, October 13 at 5:30 p.m. CDT in the Bruno Great Hall on Birmingham-Southern's campus.
This year's class includes six strong former student-athletes from a variety of sports. The Class of 2023 includes many Birmingham-Southern and conference broken records, All-American honors, and championships. The new inductees that will be honored in October are
- James "Jumbo" Henderson - Men's Basketball and 1981 graduate. Henderson is a former NAIA All-American and part of the back-to-back NAIA District 27 championship team.
- Stephanie Gore Haywood - Women's Lacrosse and 2013 graduate. Haywood is the NCAA all-time total ground balls and ground balls per game leader.
- Matt Ivie - Men's Lacrosse and 2013 graduate. Ivie has the most goals in BSC history and most goals in a season in SCAC history.
- Miles Nordgren - Baseball and 2014 graduate. Nordgren is a two-time ABCA/Rawlings All-American and an MLB draft pick by the Minnesota Twins.
- Drew Preide - Men's Swimming & Diving and 2016 graduate. Preide is a four-time All-American and holds many SAA swimming records.
- Jamal Watkins - Football and Men's Track & Field and 2018 graduate. Watkins is a three-time national champion in track and holds many BSC football receiving and returning records.
Tickets for the Induction Ceremony are $40.00 and include a cocktail hour as well as one seated meal.
