SEWANEE, Tenn. - The Birmingham-Southern men's and women's track and field teams finished eighth of 18 teams at the Sewanee Indoor Meet on Saturday. Freshman
Jaylen Scott was the lone individual champion for the Panthers with a first-place finish in the Men's Weight Throw.
The final meet before the SAA Indoor Championship was headlined by BSC freshmen
Jaylen Scott and
Kobe King. Scott took home first in Men's Weight Throw with a throw of 13.31m and second in Men's Shot Put with a distance of 12.94m. King had two top five finishes on the day with a second-place finish in the Men's Triple Jump (12.69m) and fifth place in the Men's Long Jump (6.13m). Senior
Eric Darden also had an excellent day with two top ten placements of his own. He placed third in Men's Triple Jump (12.35m) and tenth in Men's Long Jump (5.67m) in the field.
On the track, senior
Andrew Warhurst finished fifth in Men's 55m Hurdles. He saved his best for the last regular season indoor meet of his career with an 8.42 second personal record sprint.
Catherine Chua was the leader on the women's side with top ten placements in the Women's 1 Mile and Women's 800m. She ran an impressive 6:15.22 mile and 2:49.34 800m run.
Other Birmingham-Southern Top Finishes
- Jaylon Pearson finished ninth in Men's Weight Throw (10.47m) and 16th in Men's Shot Put (10.37m).
- Wyatt Jones placed 15th in the Men's 400m with a 57.04 time.
- Ada Weems ran a 1:12.96 400m run for a 17th place finish.
- Jack Rodgers ran his mile in 5:08.55 to finish 19th individually.
