MEN FINISH 9TH, WOMEN PLACE 13TH AT FALCON CLASSIC

MONTEVALLO, Ala. - The Birmingham-Southern men's and women's track and field teams opened the outdoor season on Friday and Saturday. The men's team finished inside the top 10 with a ninth place finish while the women's team finished 13th for a great start to the season.

The Panthers had six top eight individual finishes in the meet with freshman Cree Ross leading the pack with two top five placements himself. He had two personal records on the day with a fourth-place 13.56m distance in the triple jump and a fifth-place 6.80m distance in the long jump. Sophomore Noah Arrington also had an excellent day with two top eight placements. In the 800m, he finished sixth with a time of 1:58.98. He also had a PR in the 1500m for an eighth-place 4:02.69 time. Andrew Warhurst also finished top eight with a 1:04.53 in 400m hurdles in addition to the 4x100 relay team who finished seventh.

Sophomore Sydney Smith was the lone individual top eight finisher with a personal best 29.13m distance in the javelin throw. The women's team also had two seventh-place finishes in the 4x100m and 4x400m relays.

The Panthers will compete next Friday, Mar. 22 in the Emory Thrills in the Hills at Morehouse College.
