Box Score SEWANEE, Tenn. – The Birmingham-Southern women's lacrosse team fell to Southern Athletic Association rival Sewanee 15-11 on the road on Saturday.
Freshman Ryanne Ritter (Pelham, Ala./Oak Mountain HS) opened up the scoring for the Panthers with 23:10 to go in the half. BSC kept pace with the Tigers in the opening 30 minutes, going into halftime tied 6-6. However, Sewanee outscored the Panthers 9-5 in the second half to secure the win.
Senior midfielder Ashley Shepherd (Dandridge, Tenn./Jefferson County HS) led the Panthers on offense with four goals and five draw controls.
Senior defender Rachel Stokes (Brentwood, Tenn./Ravenwood HS) led the team in ground balls with nine.
Goalie Gracie Murray (Jacksonville, Fla./Episcopal School of Jacksonville) recorded 12 saves in the game.
With the loss, Birmingham-Southern falls to 1-3 overall and 0-1 in the conference. The Panthers return to Krulak Stadium on Saturday, March 3 when they host Centre in another SAA matchup. Start time for the game is set for 1 p.m.
