Panthers Lose Home Match to Lynx

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Birmingham-Southern women's lacrosse team fell to Southern Athletic Association rival Rhodes College 26-15 on Saturday afternoon, dropping the Panthers to 3-6 overall and 0-3 in conference play.

Rhodes jumped out to a 4-0 lead to start the game, but BSC rebounded and scored three unanswered goals to cut the Lynx lead to one.

The Lynx would go on to take control of the match, outscoring the Panthers 11-3 to close out the half. Birmingham-Southern managed to cut Rhodes' lead in half in the final 30 minutes of play, but could not catch up to the visitors in the end, falling 26-15 at the final buzzer.

Freshman attack Ryanne Ritter (Pelham, Ala./Oak Mountain HS) led the Panthers on offense with five goals. Sophomore midfielder Jade Cox (Rome, Ga./Darlington School) finished the game with four goals and senior Natalie Daniel (Ooltweah, Tenn./Baylor School) had three.

Sophomore Zoe Taylor (St. Petersburg, Fla./St. Petersburg HS) got her first start in goal, recording 12 saves.

Birmingham-Southern will host Kalamazoo in its next game on Monday, March 26. The match start time is set for 11 a.m.
