Box Score BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Birmingham-Southern women's lacrosse team defeated Southern Athletic Association foe Berry College 20-5 at home on Friday evening, improving to 8-6 overall and 3-3 in the conference after the final game of the regular season.
Playing with just 11 on the field, BSC dominated the Vikings throughout the match, outscoring the visitors 11-2 in the first 30 minutes before tacking on nine more goals in the second half.
Freshman Ryanne Ritter (Pelham, Ala./Oak Mountain HS) and sophomore Jade Cox (Rome, Ga./Darlington School) led the Panthers on offense with six goals each. Ritter also added two assists. Cox was the team co-leader in groundballs with senior Natalie Daniel (Ooltewah, Tenn./Baylor School) with six.
Senior Ashley Shepherd (Dandridge, Tenn./Jefferson County HS) led in the assists category with three.
Freshman Mari Clair Harmon (Houston, Texas/Northland Christian HS) got the start in goal for BSC, recording four saves.
Birmingham-Southern, currently fourth in the conference, will await confirmation of its opponent for the first round of the SAA Tournament next week.
