BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Birmingham-Southern softball team ended its season in the semifinals of the Southern Athletic Association tournament Saturday. BSC (28-15) dropped its first semifinal game to No. 5 Berry College 3-2, before falling to Rhodes College 5-4 in its second semifinal because of a walk off double.
Savannah Lee (Lascassas, Tenn./Oakland HS) led the Panthers offensively, going 4-for-5 with a homerun and four RBI. She finished the day with a 1.400 slugging percentage. Kendell Hamm (Adamsville, Ala./Sumitron Christian HS), Abby Spencer (Auburn, Ala./Auburn HS), and Haley Crumpton (Alabaster, Ala./Thompson HS) also had multi-hit days.
Jessica Perley (Vestavia Hills, Ala./Vestavia HS) and Crumpton both spent time on the mound. Crumpton finished with a team-best 11 strikeouts.
In six of the past seven years, BSC has earned 25+ win seasons. The team ranked top 25 nationally in on base percentage and fielding percentage, with individuals appearing in 24 different categories.
