CURRY NAMED COACH OF THE YEAR AS EIGHT PANTHERS EARN ALL-SAA

ATLANTA, Ga. - Af the conclusion of the SAA softball season, the Birmingham-Southern softball team had eight players earn All-SAA honors headlined by Megan Curry collecting Coach of the Year in her first season on the Hilltop.

Coach Megan Curry was named SAA Coach of the Year after her excellent first season at Birmingham-Southern. She led the Panthers to a 24-17 overall record while earning conference runner-up with a 13-5 regular season SAA record. The Panthers also handed #1 seed Berry their first SAA Tournament loss since 2021 with Curry at the helm.

Isabella Furgason was a First Team All-SAA selection at second base for the first time in her career. The senior started all 41 games for the Panthers and was a key part of the excellent middle infield defense. Furgason hit .276 on the year and was 10th in SAA in RBIs with 27 and in stolen bases with 14. She also finished fourth in the conference in assists with 79.

Emma Jolley earned First Team All-SAA as a shortstop after her Second Team selection in 2023. The sophomore started all 41 games for the Panthers and was an important part of the BSC middle infield duo. Jolley finished second on the team in batting average with a .366 and had an OPS of .821. In the SAA, she finished third in stolen bases with 21, sixth in RBIs with 29, and seventh in hits with 52. In the field, Jolley was second in the conference in assists with 88.

Katie Hart was named First Team All-SAA as an outfielder after her Second Team selection last season. The sophomore started all 41 games for BSC in centerfield and led the team in batting average with a 3.67 and hits with 54, good for fourth in the conference. Hart led the conference in stolen bases with 29 and led her team in OPS with a .842. The center fielder also did not commit an error all season as she led the SAA in fielding percentage with a 1.000. 

Natalie Snow was selected as an All-SAA Second Team pitcher in her first season on the Hilltop. The sophomore appeared in 25 games with 17 starts and finished the year with an 11-7 record for the fourth-most wins in the SAA. She finished sixth in the conference with an ERA of 3.04 and second in the conference in innings pitched with 129.0. Snow also allowed an opponent batting average of .278 for eighth-best in the SAA.

Olivia Trout earned All-SAA honors for the first time in her career with her Second Team utility nod. The sophomore started all 40 games she appeared in and played in right field while also pitching for the Panthers. At the plate, Trout had a batting average of .250 while finishing with an OPS of .760. She recorded 21 hits on the season and finished second in the conference in triples with two. On the mound, Trout finished with an ERA of 3.45 for seventh in the SAA while having an 8-7 record. She most notably threw 169 pitches in a one-run, eleven-inning, complete game in BSC's 2-1 win in game two over Berry in the SAA Championship.

Morgan McGuire was named All-SAA for the second time in her career with her Honorable Mention selection. The senior started all 41 games for the Panthers mostly as a left fielder. McGuire finished the year with a .278 batting average, .756 OPS, and 24 walks for second in the conference. She also hit two triples which ties her for second in the SAA. On the bases, McGuire finished the year a perfect 10 for 10 on stolen bases.

Maile White earned All-SAA Honorable Mention for the first time in her career. The sophomore started all 41 games for the Panthers and ended the season with a batting average of .305 while having an OPS of .774. White had 32 hits on the year including six doubles and 12 RBIs. At first base, White led the SAA in putouts with 288 and finished third in the conference in fielding percentage with .993.

Leah Wood was named All-SAA Honorable Mention for the first time in her career. The senior started all 41 games behind the plate for the Panthers and finished the year with a .302 batting average, an OPS of .800, and 35 hits. Wood led the team in doubles with seven and drove in 16 runs. At the plate, she was also hit by eight pitches for fourth-most in the conference. Behind the plate, Wood caught five runners stealing for fifth in the SAA while recording 147 putouts for seventh in the conference.
