Box Score BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Birmingham-Southern women's lacrosse team suffered an 18-10 home loss to Southern Athletic Association foe Sewanee on Sunday afternoon.
Birmingham-Southern opened the scoring in the game with a goal from Mari Clair Harmon (Houston, Texas/Northland Christian HS), but the Tigers responded with three straight goals.
BSC added three more goals from Jade Cox (Rome, Ga./Darlington School), Katie Gleeson (Franklin, Tenn./Franklin HS) and Harmon before halftime but went into the break down 14-4.
In the second half, the Panthers held Sewanee to four goals but could not fully erase the deficit, scoring six goals to bring the final score to 18-10 in the visitor's favor.
Harmon, Cox and Gleeson finished the game with three goals each. Freshman Kendal Vick (Madison, Ala./James Clemons HS) scored BSC's other goal.
Gleeson led the team in caused turnovers with four and groundballs with 10.
Goalkeeper Alexus Howard (Spring Hill, Tenn./Franklin HS) played all 60 minutes in goal for the Panthers recording eight saves.
With the loss, Birmingham-Southern falls to 0-2 and 0-1 in the SAA.
The Panthers will travel to Division II's Montevallo for their next game on Tuesday, Feb. 19 at 7 p.m.
