Box Score DEMOREST, Ga. – The Birmingham-Southern women's lacrosse team picked up a 16-9 road win over Piedmont College on Friday evening.
The win was the first of the season for the Panthers, improving BSC to 1-3 on the year.
BSC and Piedmont battled back-and-forth in the first half, with the Panthers taking a slim 5-4 lead into the halftime break.
Birmingham-Southern came out stronger than the Lions in the second half, however, outscoring the home team 11-5 in the final 30 minutes. In the last 15 minutes of the game, BSC went on a 9-1 goal run to finish the match.
Junior Jade Cox (Rome, Ga./Darlington School) led the Panthers with six goals. Sophomore Mari Clair Harmon (Houston, Texas/Northland Christian HS) and senior Katie Gleeson (Franklin, Tenn./Franklin HS) had four goals each and Gleeson led the team with four assists.
Sophomore goalkeeper Alexus Howard (Spring Hill, Tenn./Franklin HS) earned her first win between the pipes, playing all 60 minutes and recording eight saves.
Birmingham-Southern returns to the Hilltop for its next game against Point University on Tuesday, Feb. 26. Start time for the match is scheduled for 6 p.m.
