Box Score 2 BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Birmingham-Southern softball team opened its home season in stellar fashion. BSC (3-1) blanked LaGrange College in both games of its doubleheader, winning 8-0 in six innings and 10-0 in five.
Bailey Murphy (Trussville, Ala./Hewitt-Trussville HS) led the Panthers offensively. She finished with four hits, including a home run, three runs, and five RBI. The lefty also pitched the final two innings of game two and gave up just one hit. Shelby Lowery (Hoover, Ala./University of Montevallo) hit .750 on the day with three hits of her own, two RBI, and a run.
Collectively on the day, the Panthers bullpen allowed LaGrange just four hits and struck out 12. Alexis Eisenberg (Chelsea, Ala./Georgia Gwinnett) earned the game one win, and Haley Crumpton (Alabaster, Ala./Thompson HS) picked up the game two win and a save from game one.
The Panthers get ready to host the BSC Classic this weekend. They welcome Greensboro College and Mount Saint Joseph to the Hilltop for a series of games. BSC will face Greensboro on Saturday at noon before taking on Mt. St. Joseph at 2 p.m.
