Box Score 3 BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Birmingham-Southern softball team went 2-1 at its 2019 BSC Spring Classic Saturday. The Panthers (5-2) defeated Greensboro College 6-1 before splitting its doubleheader against Mount St. Joseph.
Abby Spencer (Auburn, Ala./Auburn HS) led the Panthers on the day going .500 with four hits including a triple. She finished with three runs, three RBI and two stolen bases. Three others earned three hits on the day. Kolyn Kyser (Springville, Ala./Springville HS) hit .459 with three runs and two RBI. Bailey Murphy (Trussville, Ala./Hewitt-Trussville HS) hit two doubles knocked in a team-best four RBI. And Kaylyn Chapman (New Castle, Pa./Shenango HS) went 3-for-3 with a run, a RBI and two stolen bases.
Murphy also pitched a complete game win, striking out six and giving up just one run in the Panthers finale. Alexis Eisenberg (Chelsea, Ala./Georgia Gwinnett) picked up the first win of the day and Haley Crumpton (Alabaster, Ala./Thompson HS) earned the save. Crumpton struck out a team-best seven batters allowing just one earned run in six innings of work.
BSC prepares to host Fontbonne this Wednesday in a doubleheader. First pitch is scheduled for 4 p.m.
