Box Score BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Birmingham-Southern softball opened Southern Athletic Association play Saturday with an 8-0 road win. BSC (8-2, 1-0 SAA) finished the Colonels in just six innings.
Five Panthers had two hits in the win. Savannah Lee (Lascassas, Tenn./Oakland HS) sent both of her hits over the fence. She now has three home runs on the season. Bailey Murphy (Trussville, Ala./Hewitt-Trussville HS) also had a home run. She and Lee both finished with a team-high three RBI going 2-for-3 at the plate.
Kolyn Kyser (Springville, Ala./Springville HS) and Kendell Hamm (Adamsville, Ala./Sumitron Christian HS) also went 2-for-3. And Abby Spencer (Auburn, Ala./Auburn HS) earned two hits going 2-for-4.
Haley Crumpton (Alabaster, Ala./Thompson HS) pitched the complete game shutout to earn the win. She struck out a game-high seven batters and allowed just two hits to the 21 batters faced.
The series concludes tomorrow with a doubleheader. Game times are set for noon and 2 p.m. ET.
