Box Score 2 BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Birmingham-Southern softball opened its series against Southern Athletic Association rival Centre College with a two-game sweep. BSC (9-5, 5-0 SAA) won the first game 4-2 before routing the Colonels 13-4 in five innings in the second.
Charley Clark (Calera, Ala./Calera HS), Morgan McGuire (Notasulga, Ala./Reeltown HS), and Madison Plunkett (Alabaster, Ala./Thompson HS) led the Panthers offensively on the day. Each collected three runs. Clark earned three hits including a home run and a double, with three RBI. McGuire hit .750 across the two games and also hit a double. And Plunkett, Bailey Murphy (Trussville, Ala./University of South Alabama) and Kaylyn Chapman (New Castle, Pa./Shenango HS) had two-hit days.
Annie Clayton (Eufaula, Ala./Eufaula HS) picked up the first win and Lauren Keplinger (Pinson, Ala./Wallace State CC) won game two in the circle. Murphy came in to close both games, earning two saves and finishing with a 0.00 ERA.
The series concludes tomorrow as the teams face-off at noon.
