PANTHERS HAVE BEST PERFORMANCE OF THE YEAR IN ROME

ROME, Ga. - In their final tournament of 2023, the Birmingham-Southern women's golf team put up their best scores with an 11th place finish at the Chick-fil-a Collegiate Invite.

On day one, the Panthers found themselves in 14th as a team. Gentry Scott led the way with an 83 (+10) in round one. Camryn Blackwell also shot below 90 with an 88 (+15) to finish second on the 'Southern squad. Haylee Johnson and Lindsay Reilmann finished third and fourth respectively with a 93 (+20) and a 100 (+27). In her first tournament from the season after coming off an injury, Markie Nelson finished with a 107 (+34) to round off the BSC scores.

On Tuesday in the final round, the Panthers had a very impressive display. Gentry Scott had an excellent day shooting an 81 (+8) to earn a 17th place individual finish. Camryn Blackwell improved on her day one score by three strokes to finish T41 of all individuals. Haylee Johnson finished 67th overall after a 95 (+22) on day two. Lindsay Reilmann had the largest improvement on the Panthers with a 90 (+17) in the final round. Markie Nelson also improved by seven strokes with a 100 in just her second round of the 2023 fall season. The Panthers climbed up the leaderboard and finished 11th overall out of 14 teams in the competition.
